ArmInfo. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, speaking at the country's Grand National Assembly on the results of 2025, spoke about the process of normalizing relations with Armenia.
According to APA, the minister stated that in 2025, this process was carried out in coordination with Azerbaijan and described the achievement of peace next year as a historic opportunity. "The normalization process with Armenia in 2025 was also carried out in the same direction and in coordination with Azerbaijan. In the coming period, we will continue to do everything necessary to ensure sustainable peace in the region and encourage the parties to take advantage of this historic opportunity," he said.
The minister noted that the mutual visits of the presidents made a special contribution to the further deepening of cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan in 2025 and emphasized that important developments have taken place in the region. "In the South Caucasus, with which we share historical and cultural ties, significant events took place in 2025. Our high-level bilateral relations with our brotherly and allied country, Azerbaijan, continue apace thanks to mutual contacts at the highest level, primarily the visits of the presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan," Fidan concluded.
The launch of the normalization process was announced on December 13, 2021, by then-Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. He also emphasized that Ankara would coordinate with Azerbaijan on steps to normalize relations with Armenia. The parties appointed special representatives of Turkey and Armenia for the normalization process, Serdar K?l?c and Ruben Rubinyan, who have already held several rounds of negotiations, but have so far failed to reach any breakthroughs.
