ArmInfo. Former Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Ruben Vardazaryan has been sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison. The corresponding sentence has just been announced by Anti-Corruption Court Judge Vahe Dolmazyan.
By the court's decision, Vardazaryan is also prohibited from holding positions in state bodies and local government bodies for a period of two years. The preventive measure against him remains the same - a written undertaking not to leave - until the verdict comes into force.
Ruben Vardazaryan is accused of having committed actions unrelated to his powers granted to him by the Constitution and the Judicial Code while holding the position of Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council since July 19, 2019, being a senior official of a judicial body. In particular, using his official position, he obstructed the administration of justice by the judge of the Lori Regional Court of General Jurisdiction, Andranik Simonyan.
