In Madrid, on the sidelines of the 5th Ministerial Conference on Feminist Diplomacy, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan met with Diego Martinez Bellio, Secretary of State for Foreign and Global Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain.
The interlocutors highly commended the cooperation between Armenia and Spain on multilateral platforms and within international organizations, and discussed opportunities to deepen collaboration on matters of mutual interest. The parties also exchanged views on the processes being implemented under the UN-80 initiative.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, regional security issues were also addressed during the meeting. Robert Abisoghomonyan presented the latest developments in the South Caucasus, including the initialing of the interstate agreement on the TRIPP program, emphasizing the importance of further institutionalizing the achieved peace. The Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister also touched upon the preparations for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), which will be hosted in Yerevan later this year.
Furthermore, the interlocutors discussed a range of issues on the bilateral agenda, as well as the strategic framework of Armenia-EU relations, underlining the importance of its consistent advancement.
