RA Investigative Committee Chair, Iranian Ambassador discuss efforts  to combat drug trafficking

ArmInfo. On May 22, Artur Poghosyan, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, received Khalil Shirgholami, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia, as reported by the Investigative Committee.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee congratulated the  Ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in fulfilling  his important mission. During the meeting, Artur Poghosyan touched  upon the effectiveness of information exchange and investigative  actions within the framework of criminal proceedings against citizens  of the two countries, which has been particularly noticeable in  recent years due to the daily, effective cooperation between the  Investigative Committee and the Embassy.

The Ambassador expressed gratitude for the constructive cooperation,  emphasizing that preliminary investigations of various criminal cases  involving counterfeit banknotes, prohibited medications, etc., are  being carried out promptly. The meeting also discussed joint efforts  to combat transnational crime, particularly drug trafficking.
