ArmInfo.Today, the world celebrates International Dance Day. To mark the occasion, Armenia hosted the festive event "Ari, Pari" (Come, Dance!) under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports (MOESCS) and at the initiative of the National Center for Folk Music and Dance.
The program started with a seven-circle folk dance in Republic Square. A large-scale social and cultural event marking International Dance Day has brought together approximately 4,000 dancers, including state dance studios of the National Center for Folk Music and Dance, members of the Vanush Khanamiryan Union of Choreographic Art Workers of Armenia, ensembles of the National Union of Choreographic Art of Armenia, renowned dance groups, representatives from higher and secondary vocational educational institutions, and dance groups from across the country.
Dance flash mobs are also planned at 6:00 PM on Northern Avenue, Charles Aznavour Square, in the courtyard of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, and in the adjacent grounds of the Alexander Spendiaryan Museum. The closing of the festivities will be announced at 7:00 PM in Freedom Square.
The goal of the event is to popularize Armenian dance, its significance and vitality, and to engage the general public in the preservation and development of the national choreographic heritage.
