ArmInfo. Tatevik Stepanyan, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, met with Tristan Azbay, Hungarian State Secretary for programmes supporting persecuted Christians and Anna Maria Siko, Ambassador of Hungary to Armenia, to discuss the possibility of implementing joint initiatives to protect children's rights.
According to the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Social Labor, the parties discussed the prospects of organizing a summer camp in Hungary for forcibly displaced children from Artsakh.
They emphasized the importance of organizing such camps for social integration of children and promoting intercultural contacts, as well as for broadening their worldviews and acquiring new knowledge. In this regard, it was also noted that the initiative would be ongoing, providing more children with the opportunity to attend the camp.
It should be noted that this initiative was first implemented in August 2024. Then, approximately 120 children from Artsakh went to a summer camp in Hungary.
According to the Office of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Artsakh, as a result of the forced displacement of the Artsakh population, more than 30 thousand children have arrived in Armenia, with more than 21,000 of them being school-age children.
