ArmInfo. On March 5, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan received residents of the Kond district of Yerevan to discuss issues related to the restoration of their rights to land plots adjacent to their homes, including those located in courtyards and outbuildings.
According to the press service of the Yerevan Municipality, Tigran Avinyan reiterated that the administration's goal is to restore property rights to lands that have belonged to Kond residents for many years and to prevent possible violations of property rights by developers or buyers during the implementation of the development program.
It should be noted that residents of the district have faced various property rights issues for decades.
A total of approximately 900 properties have been inventoried in the district. More than 670 applications for the restoration or
legalization of rights have already been submitted to the administration.
The process is ongoing, and the documents are being reviewed.
As a reminder, city authorities intend to implement a program to modernize the historic Cond district while preserving its distinctive character, integrating old architecture with the new urban environment. The project, being developed by the Mayor's Office and the Armenian government, entails land acquisition, property legalization, the creation of pedestrian zones, art clubs, and restaurants, transforming the district into an "Armenian Montmartre." Specifically, the project envisions the restoration of surviving two- and three-story historic buildings, the creation of a garden, and the development of tourist infrastructure by opening cafes, artists' studios, and museums. The project has entered the practical implementation phase, with work underway on a unified concept based on proposals previously developed in collaboration with French specialists.
