Arman Tatoyan draws U.S. vice-president`s attention to three key  unsettled issues on Armenia-Azerbaijan agenda 

ArmInfo.  Arman Tatoyan, head of the Wings of Unity political initiative, drew the attention of US Vice President James David Vance to three key unresolved issues on the Armenian-Azerbaijani agenda in connection with his upcoming visit to Armenia.

In a letter from Tatoyan to Vance received by ArmInfo, he noted that  Armenia highly values and deeply respects the efforts he and US  President Donald Trump made last spring to prevent renewed aggression  against Armenia, which led to the signing of the Trump Route for  International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) agreement.

He also emphasized to Vance that during his upcoming visit to  Armenia, he might be told a lot, but not the main issues that truly  concern Armenian society. "With great respect, I would like to remind  you of the Armenian prisoners and hostages illegally held in  Azerbaijan, and their torture. They are Christians, whose only  'crime' is their faith and national origin.

Furthermore, since 2021, Azerbaijan has also occupied more than 200  square kilometers of Armenian territory, leaving our border  population in constant anxiety, and their security is undermined. Our  team also has evidence of ethnic cleansing. The operation to liberate  Armenia by Azerbaijani armed forces in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in  September 2023 resulted in the forced displacement of 120,000 people  from their centuries-old homeland in just a few days," Tatoyan  continued.

In this vein, the Armenian politician expressed his willingness to  share special reports prepared by his team, expressing his belief  that they could be useful in shaping the United States' policy  position in the region.

"You and President Trump have an exceptionally successful track  record. President Trump returned prisoners who were even considered  missing. Together, you prevented aggression against Armenia last  spring, when the Biden administration took no steps in this  direction. These are not just words, but concrete results. And  Armenians around the world see and remember this. We are confident  that during your upcoming visit to Azerbaijan, you will be able to  free all 19 Armenian Christian prisoners and hostages held in Baku.  This step will bring hope and justice to thousands of Armenian  families and will resonate widely in the Armenian community  worldwide," Tatoyan added.

He also expressed confidence that US efforts to establish a lasting  peace will be achieved when Azerbaijan withdraws its troops from the  occupied territories of Armenia and when the natural rights of more  than 100,000 forcibly displaced Christian Armenians are restored.  "For our people, these efforts by President Trump and you will be  heroic, and your names will forever remain in our history. I am  convinced that the union of our two freedom-loving peoples for the  sake of peace, prosperity, and the preservation of faith can usher in  a new era in the Caucasus and the entire region. Armenia is ready to  be part of this future, not as a supplicant, but as a full partner,"  Tatoyan concluded.

Earlier, Trump announced that Vance would visit Armenia and  Azerbaijan in February. According to some reports, the American  official will arrive in Armenia on February 9.
