He is great, surrendered everything in a short time and resolved  Karabakh issue: Serzh Sargsyan

ArmInfo. Critiquing former leaders by saying  "if they could have resolved the Karabakh issue, then why didn't they do it before 2018" is akin to demanding women to give birth after five months. This viewpoint was expressed by the third president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, on December 11, in a  conversation with reporters, in response to criticisms of the current government.

"Who set the deadline for resolving the Karabakh issue? We did  everything to ensure that the issue was resolved positively. And he,  a great man, surrendered everything in a short time and resolved it,"  Sargsyan asks. Responding to the government's talk of establishing  peace, the former president said, "Well, they talk a lot, we'll see.  What haven't they said? Didn't they say we were winning for 44 days?  In any case, not everything they say should be taken at face value."

When asked about the opposition's response to the government's  campaign against the Armenian Apostolic Church-whether they should  take action or just sit back and watch-Sargsyan noted, "I don't think  all the opposition forces are sitting back and silently watching  what's happening, or enjoying it. But there is a need for  consolidation and joint struggle. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked out  yet. But you want me to criticize the opposition now?!" he said.

The former president emphasized that he and his team have repeatedly  stated their readiness to take any action at the call of His Holiness  Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians.
