Official Baku continues using term `Zangezur corridor` - expert

ArmInfo.  Official Baku continues to use the term "Zangezur Corridor," effectively equating the "Trump route" with the "corridor" project promoted since 2020. This is according to energy security expert and political scientist  Vahe Davtyan.

According to him, this time the discussion about the corridor is  being led by Azerbaijani Energy Minister Shahbazov. In his policy  article, published on the occasion of Energy Day, Shahbazov announced  the formation of an "Azerbaijan (Nakhchivan) - Turkey - Europe"  energy hub, within which the Jabrayil - Nakhchivan (330 kV) and  Nakhchivan - Turkey (400 kV) power transmission lines are already  being designed. According to him, the "Zangezur Corridor" is the  "supporting structure" of this communication. 

"Baku continues to engage in geopolitical marketing, demonstrating  that the planned communications route through southern Armenia fits  into the energy and transport interests of the West, especially the  EU. The dividends offered to Armenia have already been announced:  integration into Turkey's 'Middle Corridor,' but not with a complete  unblocking of communications, but exclusively through the 'corridor'  passing through Syunik. Baku's recent decision to lift restrictions  on cargo transit to Armenia was precisely about this.

Incidentally, Turkish Transport Minister Uraloglu also recently  touched on this topic, stating that the 'Trump route' could  significantly expand the capacity of the 'Middle Corridor.' This is  the ultimate goal of the emerging transport architecture-to utilize  Syunik's logistical potential without weakening Armenia's full  integration into regional communications. Official Yerevan may  present this to the public as a 'crossroads of peace' or 'established  peace,' but the essence of the matter will not change," the political  scientist emphasized.
