ArmInfo. Narek Ohanyan did not refuse to testify; on the contrary, he gave a detailed testimony and then denied his involvement in the incident, providing an alibi. This information was shared by lawyer Vahan Hovhannisyan on his Facebook page. Hovhannisyan is representing Narek Ohanyan in the murder case of the Parakar community head.
The lawyer made this statement to counter statements made in an interview with Public Television by the head of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
He noted that Narek Ohanyan's movements were recorded by CCTV cameras in their home, but for some reason the investigators have not yet seized them. "Why? Because that would immediately disprove the theory of his involvement in the incident," he added. "I ask a rhetorical question: how many cases have there been where a murder suspect describes in detail all their actions during, before, and after the incident, and the investigating agency fails to verify the veracity of this testimony, specifically failing to search their home or seize CCTV footage? I regret to note that the Investigative Committee has chosen an unacceptable course of action - instead of concluding the individual's guilt based on the totality of the evidence, it has initially assigned the culprit and is attempting to tailor the evidence to the indictment," Hovhannisyan noted.
