Unique fresco destroyed during demolition of NKR foreign ministry  building 

ArmInfo.  During the demolition of the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh, included in the list of historical and cultural monuments,  the Azerbaijani regime destroyed a unique fresco by the artist and  sculpture Arnold Meliksetyan.

As emphasized by the press service of the Artsakh Tourism and Culture  Development Agency (ARCTA), the destruction of the fresco of the  Artsakh sculpture is not only the loss of a valuable work of art, but  also part of Azerbaijan's large-scale policy of erasing the memory  and identity of the Armenians of Artsakh.

"The demolition of the MFA building on Artsakh Independence Day was  aimed not only at destroying the symbol of the Republic's  independence, but also became another manifestation of Azerbaijan's  consistent policy of destroying, distorting and appropriating the  cultural heritage of the NKR," ARCTA emphasized.

The agency believes that responsibility for this vandalism lies not  only with Azerbaijan, but also with the international community,  which, with its silence and inaction, is actually encouraging  cultural genocide.

"No less worrying is the inaction of the Armenian authorities, who  were obliged to protect the rights of their citizens and the cultural  heritage of Artsakh on international platforms," the department  concluded.

As ArmInfo previously reported, Azerbaijan demolished the building of  the NKR Foreign Ministry in occupied Stepanakert on the 34th  anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Artsakh. And  before that, the Azerbaijani regime bulldozed the buildings of the  Artsakh parliament and the "Liberator Warriors" on Revival Square in  Stepanakert, and desecrated the Surb Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of  God) Cathedral.  Since the occupation of Artsakh, a number of  neighborhoods in Stepanakert and entire villages have been  demolished.
