ArmInfo. Today, a court hearing was held in the Criminal Court of Appeals regarding the case of former Defense Minister of Artsakh Jalal Harutyunyan. The reason for the hearing was Jalal Harutyunyan's failure to receive the court's decision. Liparit Simonyan, the representative of the legal successors of the victims, shared this information on his Facebook page.
Simonyan pointed out that it is becoming obvious that the accused is intentionally avoiding receiving the court decision, in order to reach the statute of limitations and avoid serving his sentence. The Court of Appeals tried to deliver the decision twice by mail and once in person, but he never received it.
According to the court, Jalal Harutyunyan's actions were deemed as an abuse of rights because he was notified of today's court hearing but did not appear, and although he knew the court order was being sent to him he claimed he did not receive it. "Although Jalal Harutyunyan notified of his whereabouts in writing and promised to receive the court order, the injured party believes that he will once again avoid receiving the court's decision. It is obvious that a person in the rank of lieutenant general wants to evade serving the sentence imposed by the court's verdict, is trying to evade serving the sentence, and this person was entrusted with leading an entire defense army, and, naturally, what should have been the result of a 44-day war," Liparit Simonyan wrote.
