ArmInfo. Artsakh has fallen victim to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's geopolitical strategy, but, nevertheless, it can become Armenian again if its return becomes a vital principle, rather than a subject of promises. Armen Ashotyan, Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia, expressed this viewpoint during a press conference on July 5.
The politician expressed regret over the fact that the loss of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic has simply become insignificant for a certain part of Armenian society, while others remember Artsakh only because it is seen as shameful not to talk about it. The RPA Deputy Chairman disagreed with the opinion that Russia played a role in the surrender of Artsakh. Ashotyan believes that the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic was surrendered by the Armenian people, who failed to resist the ruling regime.
"Let's not shift the blame to others, and let's not think about whether Russia defended its interests well or not," the RPA Vice Chairman added. Ashotyan also touched upon Pashinyan's concept of the "state", according to which, as the RPA Deputy Chairman noted, the Prime Minister is actually fighting against the Motherland. In this vein, Ashotyan pointed out that the state is an instrument of the Motherland, which allows it to prosper. "That is, the state is needed for the revival of the Motherland, rather than being prioritized above it," Ashotyan emphasized.
