Power belongs to people in Armenia - premier 

ArmInfo.  Citizen's Day is dedicated to the phenomenon that power in our country after 2018 belongs to the people, or rather to the citizens of the Republic of Armenia.  This is stated in the congratulatory message of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on the occasion of Citizen's Day.  "This key change must become part of our consciousness, social  psychology, traditions and everyday practice.

This change is happening, but not without difficulties.

And this is the path by which we will be able to ensure our highest  goal - the longevity of the independent state of the Republic of  Armenia.

This path goes through complex knots of foreign and domestic policy,  sometimes through collapses and tragedies.

But we go this way without losing sight of the key identity of the  citizen - the interests of the state.

Our policy has been and continues to be built around this.

This is a difficult but inevitable path - the path of independence,  sovereignty, state consciousness and peace, and we will go this way  without expecting applause," he said.

Congratulating the citizens on this holiday, the Prime Minister noted  that after the velvet revolution of 2018, not a single election has  been falsified in Armenia. "And this fact has become part of our new  reality," he added.

Pashinyan stressed that his government is the guarantor of the free  expression of the will of the people, noting that the people must  also protect their right to freedom of choice, which is extremely  important.  According to him, the government and the ruling majority  need to ensure self-regulation mechanisms that will contribute to the  further development of the culture of freedom. "The government has  guaranteed and will continue to guarantee the freedom of citizens,"  he said.

According to Pashinyan, Citizen's Day is also dedicated to  well-being. In this vein, he recalled that since the people's,  non-violent velvet revolution of 2018, the Armenian economy has grown  by 43.5%, and the state budget has received additional revenue of $  4.2 billion.

At the same time, Pashinyan noted that Citizen's Day is also  dedicated to intolerance to corruption. He noted that after the  revolution, anti-corruption institutions were created in Armenia: the  Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, the Anti-Corruption  Committee, the Court of Three Instances, the Institute for the  Confiscation of Illegal Property and the Protection of Public  Interests. "The main initiator of anti- corruption cases and the  leader of the fight against corruption is the government and the  ruling majority.

Systemic corruption in Armenia has been eradicated, and online  corruption is being fought daily, and this fight requires more and  more public support.

Citizen's Day is, first of all, dedicated to the state and statehood,  because there is no citizen without the state. The state is the  identity of the citizen," the prime minister noted in his message.
