Armenia seeking to finalize normalization of relations with  Azerbaijan - FM

ArmInfo. Armenia seeks to summarize the process of normalizing relations with Azerbaijan. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated this on January 30 at a joint press conference with his Georgian counterpart Maka  Bochorishvili.

"We seek to summarize the process of normalizing relations with  Azerbaijan. The government's agenda is unchanged: we are committed to  the peace agenda. This concerns both the peace treaty and the  unblocking of transport communications, delimitation and demarcation  of the border," the Armenian Foreign Minister noted.

Touching upon the unblocking of transport communications in the  region, Mirzoyan recalled the immutability of official Yerevan's  position on this issue. "Armenia's position has long been known. We  promote the idea of unblocking regional communications. We ourselves  have made quite constructive proposals to Azerbaijan and expect a  positive reaction from the Azerbaijani side. We are confident that  this unblocking of communications, in the form in which we present  it, will bring serious economic benefits to the region - Armenia,  Azerbaijan and Georgia. They are also reflected in our project  "Crossroads of the World", - the head of the Armenian Foreign  Ministry noted.

According to him, unblocking should take place on the basis of  territorial integrity, sovereignty and jurisdiction of those  countries through which these communications will take place.

"It is clear that the 21st century is a century when everyone strives  to liberalize logistics and communications. And we, with Azerbaijan,  when this happens, naturally see some simplified procedures that can  be applied, and from which both we and Azerbaijan will benefit. I  will not say anything new, our position remains unchanged," the  Armenian minister summarized.

Azerbaijan is trying to get an extraterritorial corridor from Armenia  through the Syunik region. At the same time, it uses the threat of  force to achieve this goal.
