ArmInfo. Some details of the draft peace treaty with Azerbaijan need to be clarified and the  document needs to be finalized. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated to journalists on June 12.

According to him, first of all, the issue concerns coordinating two  agreements reached during previous meetings in Prague, Sochi and  Brussels - the territorial integrity of states and opening transport  communications in the region. "The President of Azerbaijan himself  has repeatedly stated that official Baku remains committed to the  agreements reached in Prague and the Almaty Declaration of 1991,"   the Prime Minister noted.

As for the condition of the Azerbaijani side on amending the  Constitution of the Republic of Armenia for the signing of the peace  treaty, as Pashinyan noted, this step of Baku is aimed at torpedoing  the peace process.  Pashinyan saw in this demand a tendency to  interfere in the internal affairs of Armenia and to initiate  processes in the country based on disinformation. "We talked about  constitutional amendments immediately after the change of power in  2018, and this issue is part of the country's democratization  process. However, the issue of our Constitution cannot be the subject  of negotiations, since it is exclusively an internal matter of the  Republic of Armenia,"  the head of the Cabinet said.

He also noted that the process of delimitation and demarcation of  borders with Azerbaijan was initiated by the Armenian side in order  to be able to fix the de jure sovereign territory of Armenia. "The  demarcation problem itself is very complicated and the problem cannot  be solved using textbook approaches alone. But it is simply necessary  to agree on the general principles for settling relations. It is  quite possible to establish a real peace through practical steps, and  only then sign an agreement. But in any case, a peace treaty must be  signed," the Prime Minister said, admitting, in particular, both the  possibility of opening communications with Azerbaijan and delimiting  the borders before signing a peace treaty.
