ArmInfo. The Armed Forces of Armenia fiercely resisted Azerbaijan's aggression. Speaker of the RA National Assembly Alen Simonyan stated this on the air of the Public TV of Armenia.
According to him, in a number of sectors of the front, it was even possible to return to the previous combat positions that were under attack. There are one or two enemy groups that have invaded the territory of the country, which will very soon be quickly driven back by military methods to their initial positions. <Fortunately, the enemy did not succeed to capture a single settlement. Nevertheless, Azerbaijan carried out aggression against Armenia and is now on its sovereign territory>, Simonyan said.
He added that according to the current situation, the official death toll is 135, and it is possible that this figure will change. When the situation completely calms down, it will be possible to identify the killed soldiers and start searching for the missing persons. Simonyan noted that the number of killed soldiers of the Azerbaijani army is at least three times higher than the number of killed Armenian soldiers. "I assure you that if Baku officially announces the figure of 70 dead, this means that the number of enemy soldiers killed is three to four times higher," the RA NA speaker stressed.
He noted that today the Armenian army needs weapons, on all other issues, including financial ones, the country's armed forces have no problems. The speaker emphasized that the country's authorities are purchasing weapons from various sources, not being satisfied with one direction of purchases. This work, as Simonyan noted, is carried out on a daily basis. He noted that the country is in a position where one cannot give preference to one supplier of weapons, since every day of delay can cost the lives of Armenian soldiers and new threats to the sovereignty of the country.
Speaking about the general mobilization, or rather, its absence, the speaker pointed to the bitter experience during the 44-day war in Artsakh, during which the conscript soldiers showed themselves well. "The declaration of martial law in the country can be perceived as an act of aggression, and may be perceived in Baku as an attempt at provocations and attacks," the head of the Armenian parliament said.
He also pointed to the presence of serious diplomatic successes, evidenced by the recent discussions at the UN, intensive contacts between the Armenian authorities and the leaders of the world, who play a far from secondary role in terms of controlling the situation
