ArmInfo. 620 thousand doses of Moderna vaccine donated by Norway within the framework of the Team Europe initiative have been delivered to Yerevan, the Ministry of Health of Armenia reports.
The cargo was handed over to the Ministry of Health at the Zvartnots airport by the EU Ambassador to Armenia Andrea Wiktorin and the Norwegian Ambassador Helene Sand Andresen. "Thanks to such a large donation, we will have the opportunity to increase the percentage of vaccination of the population, and expand coverage throughout Armenia. We will overcome this epidemic through solidarity and cohesion," said the head of the Ministry of Health Anahit Avanesyan.
Andresen expressed hope that the vaccine will help Armenia protect itself from the pandemic in the context of solidarity with relatives and the general public. "Taking into account the growth of COVID-19 cases in Armenia and the need to increase the level of vaccination, we believe that the vaccine is delivered at the right time. EU Ambassador Wiktorin said.
Vaccines of Russian production (Sputnik V), British-Swedish (AstraZeneca) and Chinese (Coronavac and Sinopharm) and "Spikevax" produced by the American company Moderna are available in Armenia without any restrictions. Earlier it was reported about negotiations for the purchase of American-made vaccines Novavax, Johnson & Johnson and Phizer. At the same time, the use of the Moderna vaccine is allowed for children over 12 years of age.
