Gallup International Association survey results: 58% of respondents  see the need to hold early parliamentary elections

ArmInfo. The consulting company MPG (Marketing Professional Group), which represents the Gallup International Association in Armenia, has published the  results of a regular poll concerning the internal political situation  in Armenia - "Is there really a need to hold early parliamentary  elections?"

During the press conference, the head of MPG Aram Navasardyan said  that the survey was conducted from February 15 to 17 through  telephone calls, the geography of which covered all regions of  Armenia, including border communities, the sample size was 801, the  sampling error was +/- 3.5%.  In particular, he noted that the  results of the poll showed that the activities of all political  figures in Armenia (current and former) were assessed by the public  as below average. "That is, we do not have a single politician whose  activities would be assessed in a positive way," the head of MPG  stressed.  Thus, according to Navasardyan, on a 5-point scale,  Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan scored 2.8 points, Armenian  President Armen Sarkissian - 2.3 points, the first President Levon  Ter-Petrosyan - 1.7 points, the second President Robert Kocharian - 2  points, the third president Serzh Sargsyan - 1.7 points, the leader  of the Prosperous Armenia party Gagik Tsarukyan - 2.2 points, the  leader of the Lusavor Hayastan faction Edmon Marukyan - 1.8 points,  the leader of the Motherland party - Artur Vanetsyan 1.5 points, the  leader of the movement to save the Motherland Vazgen Manukyan and the  head of the ARFD Ishkhan Saghatelyan - 1.6 each.

At the same time, 32% of respondents consider the representatives of  the former authorities of Armenia to be the main reason for the  defeat in the Artsakh war, 28.8% - Nikol Pashinyan and his  government, 16.1% - Turkey and its military support to Azerbaijan,  10.2% of respondents believe that Armenia and Artsakh did not lose,  4.4% - consider individual officers of the Artsakh Defense Army and  the Armenian Armed Forces to be guilty, 19.2% - provided other  answers, and 7.7% - found it difficult to assess.  To the question  "What should Armenia strive for in the Artsakh issue?", The majority  of respondents (30.7%) insist on the return of Shushi, Hadrut and 7  regions, 27.7% - see the need to stabilize the situation within the  existing borders, 20.2 % - believe that it is necessary to return  only Shushi and Hadrut, 3.1% - to accept the territorial integrity of  Azerbaijan, surrender Artsakh and end the conflict, 10% - presented  other options, and 8.2% - found it difficult to answer.  It is  noteworthy that 37.1% of respondents are of the opinion that it is  necessary to hold early parliamentary elections in Armenia, 21.3%  believe that it is more likely yes than no, 13.6% - more likely no  than yes, and 19.7% generally do not see the need for elections. "As  we can see, about 58% of the respondents answered that there is a  need to hold early parliamentary elections," Navasardyan said.  At  the same time, the majority of respondents (41.2%) believe that the  elections should be held under the leadership of Nikol Pashinyan,  28.2% - hold the opposite opinion, 7.9% - by the interim government  proposed by the opposition, 13.9% - found it difficult to the answer,  and 8.9% - offered other options.  28.2% of respondents agreed with  the statement of the ruling party "My Step" that there is no need to  hold early parliamentary elections, 11.7% answered, rather yes than  no, 15.9% - more likely no than yes, 35% - strongly disagree with the  statement of "My step", and 9.2% - found it difficult to answer.  "That is, about 51% of respondents do not agree with such a  decision," he said.

If early parliamentary elections are held next Sunday, 33.1% of  respondents will vote for "My Step", 4.4% - for "Prosperous Armenia",  2.6% - for "Bright Armenia", 2.2% - for RPA, 2.2% - ARF, 0.9% -  "Homeland", 0.7% - "Republic", 0.4% - "Sasna Tsrer", etc.  5.6% of  respondents are ready to vote for Robert Kocharyan, 0.9% for Vazgen  Manukyan. At the same time, 27.2% do not want to vote for anyone, and  15.7% found it difficult to answer. "In general, it turns out that  about 40% of the respondents do not know who to vote for,"  Navasardyan said.

After the signing of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020,  38.8% of respondents believe that Nikol Pashinyan should continue to  lead the Armenian government, 43.6% voted for his resignation. In  this context, the head of MPG cited the figures registered as a  result of the poll for November 13, when 35% of those polled voted  for Pashinyan's resignation. Thus, as Navasardyan further continued,  this indicator has increased by 8% since November.

The February MPG survey also included questions related to the  interviews of the 2nd and 3rd presidents of Armenia. Thus, according  to the results, only 26% of the respondents watched Serzh Sargsyan's  interview.  At the same time, 15.9% of them assess the statements of  the 3rd RA President extremely positively, 22.6% - rather positively,  15.4% - rather negatively and 40.4% - negatively. Robert Kocharian's  interview was watched by 35.1% of the respondents, of whom 24.2% gave  a positive assessment, 22.4% - rather positive, 11% - rather  negative, 36.3% - negative.

At the same time, only 9.4% of those polled throughout Armenia  expressed their readiness to support the opposition at the upcoming  rally to be held on February 20, in Yerevan the share of those  supporting the opposition movement was 12%. To remind, in 2011, MPG  became the official representative in Armenia of the International  Association Gallup - one of the most prestigious and independent  organizations for the study of public opinion in the world. Since  2003, MPG, working in the market of sociological and marketing  research, has implemented more than 800 projects of various scale.
