Sasnatsrer: Constitutional referendum should be a continuation of the  revolution

ArmInfo. The constitutional referendum scheduled for April 5 should be a continuation of the revolution in Armenia. A similar opinion was expressed by ArmInfo,  one of the leaders of the all-Armenian party "Sasnatsrer", the hero  of the Artsakh war, Zhirair Sefilyan.

"For this purpose, we consider it necessary to attach a political  document to the referendum agenda with points to continue the  revolutionary process in a very short time within the framework of  transitional logic.  The first item in this document should be the  political and legal assessment of the previous regime through the  implementation of transitional justice. Lustration should be  components of law enforcement agencies, economic lustration, the  withdrawal of criminal groups and organizations from the political  field, "he said.  The next step, according to Sasnatsrer, should be  the creation of a new Electoral Code and only then a new  Constitution, followed by early elections. Sefilyan is convinced of  the need to leave seven members of the current Constitutional Court  and is amazed that they continue to remain in their seats even a year  and a half after the change of power in the country. According to his  forecasts, this state of affairs threatens the country with serious  challenges, internal upheavals and threats.

According to Sefilyan, the main reason for the formation of such a  situation is the fact that Nikol Pashinyan accepted the status of  successor to the previous regime after Serzh Sargsyan's resignation.  According to him, the Prime Minister continues to work in this status  and within the framework of this logic. With those inherited from the  previous regime, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Constitutional  Court, the leadership of the Police, the National Security Service,  etc.

"Meanwhile, we are convinced that it is impossible to cleanse our  country of corruption, criminals and many other similar phenomena  through law enforcement structures with similar dubious content.   Unfortunately, the prime minister never listened to our periodic  calls and continues to act within the framework of revolutionary  logic. As a result, Today, we faced the need to hold a nationwide  plebiscite with the sole purpose of pulling out 7 representatives of  the illegitimate regime of the past from the seats, "Sefilyan summed  up.

On February 10, Armenian President Armen Sargsyan signed a decree on  holding a referendum on constitutional amendments on April 5.  Earlier, at an extraordinary sitting of the National Assembly of  Armenia on February 6, the deputies voted "for" the issue of the need  to adopt amendments to the Constitution, providing for the  termination of the powers of the chairman and members of the  Constitutional Court for a referendum. We are talking about article  213 of the Constitution governing the tenure of members and the  chairman of the Constitutional Court. The adoption of the amendments  will allow the resignation of the current composition of the  Constitutional Court.
