ArmInfo.Armenia, the cradle of Christianity, with a thousand- year history and culture, is pleased to welcome the participants of the Francophonie Summit in Yerevan, which this month celebrates its 2800th anniversary. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated this on October 11 at the opening ceremony of the Summit.
According to him, the identity and creative energy of the people, who survived the tragedy of the genocide of 1915, today is moving forward, being confident in their future. New Armenia is guided by the ideas of the velvet revolution to live together in a free, fair and united society. For Armenia, the Prime Minister continued, it is a great honor to host the Francophonie Summit. "In this regard, we fully realize our responsibility and hope that this event will become one of the exceptional events in the institutional life of the organization, as well as an important manifestation of coexistence and solidarity in the Francophonie space," the head of the Armenian government emphasized.
He recalled that Armenia is a young member of the OIF, 15 years have passed from the moment of obtaining observer status to full membership in the structure. Nevertheless, there is no need to prove the country's commitment to cultural and linguistic diversity, the fundamental values of France and Francophonie. "Armenia is proud of its membership in the International Organization of the Francophonie, which is a vast field for cooperation and dialogue, bringing together the member states of the Organization in an environment of respect for diversity and solidarity, peace, democracy and human rights.
"We are committed to the Summit's slogan" Living together in Francophonie," because common good and wealth are created together, which is important for us ", said the head of the Armenian government, adding that living together means respecting solidarity, humanitarian values and diversity as the basis for peace and prosperity in the whole francophone region. "In this sense, the topics proposed by Armenia will also be reflected in our work," Nikol Pashinyan said. He noted that "living together" also means opposing populism and extremes. The Prime Minister noted that values and principles of "living together" should be opposed to the hate and intolerance, these values should be united and brought into practice.
