Edmond Marukyan: We will do everything possible to meet the  expectations of the people and implement changes in the country

ArmInfo. From tomorrow, a change of power will take place in Armenia, and we must fulfill the expectations of our people. "Elk" faction deputy Edmond Marukyan  stated on May 7 at a briefing in the National Assembly.

"A number of problems in Armenia are of national importance, and we  will do everything possible to solve them, including the issue of  oligarchs, which should not be in the government," said Marukyan.

The deputy also said that representatives of the "Elk" are ready for  any scenario. "We have already passed through this, for us in this  situation there will not be anything new, but I do not think that the  RPA will disrupt Pashinyan's election for the second time," Marukyan  said.

Concerning whether Marukyan does not feel guilty that, despite  Pashinyan's numerous requests, did not support him at the beginning  of the struggle, the deputy stated that in this case each party from  the "Elk" bloc was guided by its principles. "We did not leave Nikol  Pashinyan, when his colleagues arrested the police, we were working  with international institutions these days. Nikol Pashinyan knew at  which point we would support him, and in a difficult situation we  always offered him a helping hand. We believe that we should not  fight against personalities, in this case not against Serzh Sargsyan,  but against the whole system. When the struggle against personalities  became systemic, we joined the movement. We knew what Pashinyan would  do, but did not know how RPA would react," said the deputy.

He also said that the Armenian revolution was the most "brilliant" in  the territory of the former USSR, so the new Armenian authorities  will achieve more significant results than it was after the Rose  Revolution in Georgia.

Also, Marukyan noted that it is necessary to change the electoral  code, in particular, it is necessary to eradicate the rating system  of elections. At the same time, the representative of "Elk" stressed  that you should not be too hasty in the matter of early elections.  After all, Armenia faces a number of important tasks. We should hold  the summit of Francophonia in autumn in Yerevan at the proper level.  At this stage, the most important thing for us is to establish  stability in the country. We are not ready for a new shock, and the  parliamentary elections are a shock, when we are ready for them, we  will hold them properly, trying to eradicate the possibility of  pre-election bribes and ensuring equal opportunity for all  participants in the elections," said Marukyan.
