Participants in "Refuse Serzh" initiative tried to block square of  France in Yerevan

ArmInfo. Participants in the "Refuse Serzh" initiative on April 12 tried to block the square of France in the center of Yerevan in the evening. The correspondent of  ArmInfo informs about this from the scene.

Members of the action tried to start a sit-in strike, but very soon  the Armenian police managed to "gently" remove the protesters from  the highway and restore traffic. Some stubborn protesters who  attempted to block traffic were subjected to a drive. As the Deputy  Chief of Police of Yerevan Valery Osipyan told journalists, the  participants of the action, blocking the street, actually committed  illegal actions.

One of the participants of the action Shushan Harutyunyan stated that  the shares will continue until Serzh Sargsyan refuses to nominate  himself for the post of Prime Minister of Armenia. "Sargsyan gave his  word that if the country passes to the parliamentary system of  government, it will not claim the post of prime minister of the  country, let it keep its word," said Harutyunyan.

It should be noted that in 2014, at a meeting of the commission that  announced the launch of constitutional reforms, Serzh Sargsyan stated  that if the constitutional reforms succeed, he personally will not  qualify for the post of president or prime minister. "I officially  declare that I, Serge Sargsyan, will never again be nominated for the  office of the President of the Republic of Armenia, and if as a  result of final discussions a path is chosen that does not correspond  to my desire, I mean the parliamentary model, I will not pretend to  the post of prime minister," Sargsyan said.

Members of the initiative group came to a consensus with  representatives of the party "Civil Treaty" regarding joint  participation in various protest actions. The CC, in turn, initiated  a march across Armenia from March 31st as a sign of protest against  the possible premiership of Serzh Sargsyan. On April 13, a rally of  the CC on the Freedom Square is expected, the action will last 4  days, and on April 17 - on the day of the prime minister's election,  the oppositionists intend to block the entrances to the building of  the National Assembly in order to obstruct the voting.
