ArmInfo.In Sochi, the presidents of Russia, Iran and Turkey discussed Syria, not Karabakh. The director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, professor Ruben Safrastyan expressed this opinion to ArmInfo.

"Putin, Roukhani and Erdogan discussed the Syrian issue in Sochi, I  am convinced that the role of these countries in the processes that  are emerging in Syria towards the settlement of the situation is  quite significant. Karabakh, as the Turkish president once again  tried to present on the eve of the meeting, "the Orientalist said.

The main thesis on November 22 in Sochi, the Russian-Iranian-Turkish  talks was the stated intention of Vladimir Putin, Hasan Roukhani and  Recep Erdogan intention "to counter terrorism not only in Syria, but  throughout the region until complete eradication." There were also  theses on the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of  Syria. No mention was made of the Karabakh conflict following the  summit of the presidents.

In general, according to Safrastyan, Erdogan's desire to raise the  Karabakh problem on a variety of weighty international formats and  venues is by no means new. In particular, the Turkish president  announced discussion of the Karabakh issue and on the eve of the  meeting with the Russian president.

According to him, the Turkish president periodically tries to get  into the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, which is engaged in the  settlement of the Karabakh conflict through various means. His aim,  at the same time, is to demonstrate his own importance on a regional  scale. However, according to the forecasts of the orientalist, the  Iranian and Russian colleagues will not agree to the Karabakh tricks  of Erdogan.  On the eve of the November 13 meeting in Sochi with  Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced  discussion of other issues and the Karabakh issue at the meeting.  Erdogan expressed the supposition that if the Russian colleague is  concentrated on this issue, it "will be easily solved". The Turkish  president voiced a similar opinion on the eve of the trilateral  summit of the presidents of Russia, Iran and Turkey, held in Sochi on  November 22.
