Eduard Sharmazanov: Statement by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Karabakh contradicts the position of the OSCE Minsk Group

ArmInfo. The statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Pavel Klimkin, on the Karabakh issue contradicts the position of the OSCE Minsk Group and other international structures, and it is unacceptable. Deputy Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov said this in a conversation with ArmInfo correspondent, commenting on the statement of the Ukrainian Foreign Minister that "Kiev will support the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan in the future, since aggression and occupation were committed against Azerbaijan".

"Otherwise, this statement can not be called absurd and unsuccessful," Sharmazanov noted that aggression in the Karabakh conflict zone began in 1988, and Azerbaijan initiated it. "Another manifestation of the Azerbaijani aggression was the April war in the zone of the Karabakh conflict of the conflict, "the vice speaker said, stressing that it is not appropriate for a diplomat of such a high rank to make such undiplomatic statements just to please Azerbaijani friends or to gain political advantage.  At the same time Sharmazanov expressed respect and admiration for the representatives of the Turkish intelligentsia, who recently visited Artsakh despite all threats from the authorities of Azerbaijan and Turkey. In his estimation, this shows that in dictatorial Turkey there are still heroes with free thinking.

"There are still people in Turkey who, regardless of the feudal administration of Erdogan, find the strength and courage to think freely, as manifested by their visit to Artsakh," Sharmazanov concluded.

Recently representatives of the Turkish intelligentsia, a member of the Green Party and the Left Future political party, chairman of the Ankara's Platform for Thinking, Ufuk Uraz, writer and public figure Said Chekinoglu, Ali Bayramoglu, writer and presenter Erol Katyrchyoglu visited Armenia and Nagorno- Karabakh. This visit caused a painful reaction in Azerbaijan. The Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan initiated a criminal case against the above-mentioned persons and conducts an inspection, moreover, they are declared on the international wanted list by the Interpol line. Also note that Turkey does not extradite its citizens to foreign countries at the request of Interpol. However, this prevented one of them from leaving Lebanon for fear that Beirut would transfer it to Azerbaijan at Interpol's request.
