Ambassador: signing of a new agreement between Armenia and the  European Union will be a new stage of bilateral cooperation

ArmInfo. "The signing of the new agreement between Armenia and the European Union will be a new stage of bilateral cooperation," the head of EU delegation to  Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Switalski, stated at a meeting with  Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan on September 8.

He also noted that EU will do everything possible to ensure that all  areas of cooperation have acquired a new quality. According to the  Ambassador, Framework Single Assistance Document is very promising.   "We support your reform program with the help of external experts, we  have carefully analyzed your plan, it is an ambitious program, and  now we are thinking about how to coordinate our actions in Armenia  with your reform program." We want to invest if you believe that  reforms will be effective, "the ambassador said, quoted by the press  service of the Armenian Government.

In his turn, prime Minister stressed that EU assistance in the  framework of the reform program is consistent and decisive. "It is  very pleasant that your experts have analyzed the government's plan  and agree that we are on the right track." I want to assure you that  we know how we must change our country and know all our problems and  shortcomings, "said Karapetyan.  The parties noted that work on  Armenia-EU Agreement and over the framework of general assistance is  proceeding normally, and the views and approaches of the parties  coincide. They noted the importance of selecting effective programs  for EU assistance, as well as the transparency and targeting of  projects being implemented. The interlocutors also touched upon  issues related to the aviation agreement and exchanged views on the  current political processes in EU.  

On February 27, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, after talks with the chairman of the European Council Donald Tusk in Brussels, said: "Today I can say with satisfaction that the parties have concluded the talks. The new legal instrument - the Agreement on Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership - reflects the real scope and depth of Armenia-EU relations. " And on March 21, 2017, Armenia and the EU initialed the Agreement on Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership.
