The relevance of Valeriy Permyakov, a serviceman of the Russian military base deployed in Armenia, to the Gyumri tragedy is not the most important circumstance, as his relevance is minor, director of the Armenian Centre for National and International Studies, Manvel Sargsyan, told Arminfo correspondent.
"The bloody staging linked with boots with the name, implemented by the unknown people at the tragedy site, as well as the contradictory statements about the "capture" of Permyakov at the Armenian-Turkish border, are evidence of that. I think that here we can notice the elements of buckpassing. But what was the key part of the 102-nd Russian military base in this performance? One thing is clear today, that the mass murder was committed not as a domestic violence. Here we can notice the political motivation directly linked with a problem of deployment of the 102-nd Russian military base in Armenia", - he emphasized.
He also added that although 4 days have passed since the moment of the tragedy, the community have not been informed about simple things and facts linked with the murder. For this reason, the Gyumri residents and the entire Armenian community think that the tragedy was provoked.
"So, the tragedy in Gyumri is a well-planned action. In general, the 102-nd Russian military base is a strong headache in the Armenian-Russian relations. We built them not in the correct way from the very beginning. As a result, today we have such an abnormal situation in the relations between the two countries. In this context, I think that with a help of the Gyumri tragedy certain forces within Russia have tried to make relevant the problem of expediency of the 102-nd Russian military base deployment at the territory of Armenia. But why? This is another topic", - Sargsyan concluded.
