ArmInfo. Armenia's ruling Civil Contract party wants to decapitate the National Assembly factions in order to push through its version of the country's constitution. This was stated by third President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan to journalists on November 5. He was commenting on the arrests of the leaders of the Strong Armenia and Prosperous Armenia parties, Samvel Karapetyan and Gagik Tsarukyan.

According to the third president, all of this is being done with the sole purpose of pushing through the constitutional referendum.

Samvel Karapetyan was arrested on November 5. He and his associates are accused of causing 64.5 billion drams in damages to the Electric Networks of Armenia company as a result of their actions. In turn, the court in Yerevan extended Gagik Tsarukyan's arrest for another 3 months.
