"Strong Armenia" faction nominates David Ghazinyan for Chair of  Committee on Territorial Administration and Environmental Protection 

ArmInfo.The opposition "Strong Armenia" faction in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia has nominated David Ghazinyan for the position of Chairman of the Standing Committee on Territorial Administration and Environmental Protection.

During a parliamentary session, Ghazinyan addressed key aspects of  the nation's energy sector, asserting that Armenia remains a  self-sufficient country in energy terms. Commenting on government  initiatives regarding solar and nuclear energy capacities, he  emphasized the critical need for energy storage systems.  Ghazinyan  noted that he was referring to solar power plants, not nuclear power.  "If these two 'nuclear power plants' don't have an energy storage  system, meaning we can't store it, then it becomes more of a danger  than a benefit. In other words, when supply exceeds demand, it's a  very serious issue. Energy storage plants are essential for ensuring  stability. Even if the 'nuclear power plants' shut down, Armenia will  be considered energy self-sufficient. In this case, discussing  Aliyev's words about 'let's take electricity from Nakhchivan, let's  do this, let's do that,' I don't think is entirely appropriate," he  said.

Ghazinyan also drew attention to infrastructural delays, noting that  the construction of the Armenia- Georgia high-voltage power  transmission line serving as an extension of the Iran-Armenia energy  corridor has currently stalled.
