ArmInfo. Vahagn Aleksanyan has been elected Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. Sixty-two deputies voted in favor of his candidacy, while 27 voted against.
It should be noted that the opposition "Armenia" faction did not participate in the voting. Representatives of another opposition faction, "Strong Armenia," were the only ones to speak out against Aleksanyan's candidacy.
Earlier, the National Assembly elected Ruben Rubinyan as Speaker and Hayk Konjoryan as Vice Speaker from the "Civil Contract" faction. Discussions regarding the third deputy speaker will begin tomorrow; for this position, the "Strong Armenia" faction has nominated lawyer Aram Vardevanyan.
