The state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Georgia has begun

ArmInfo. On July 16, 2026, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov departed for a state visit to Georgia.

At the Shota Rustaveli International Airport, Georgian officials and members of the Turkmenistan delegation welcomed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

At the Orbeliani Palace, the President of Turkmenistan was warmly greeted by the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili.

Subsequently, the official welcoming ceremony for the President of Turkmenistan took place.

Following the official photo session against the background of the state flags of the two countries, negotiations were held between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President Mikheil Kavelashvili.

Warmly welcoming the distinguished guest and thanking him for accepting the invitation to visit Georgia on a state visit, President Mikheil Kavelashvili expressed confidence that this visit by the President of Turkmenistan would open a new page in the history of interstate relations.

Taking this opportunity, the head of the friendly state also conveyed heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan.

Expressing gratitude for the invitation to visit Georgia and for the hospitality extended, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also conveyed greetings and good wishes to President Mikheil Kavelashvili from the National Leader of the Turkmen people. Noting that the current visit coincides with the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states, the Head of Turkmenistan congratulated his Georgian counterpart on this significant date.

Emphasizing that the countries constructively cooperate within international organizations, primarily the UN, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to the Georgian side for its consistent support of Turkmenistan's policy of permanent neutrality and international initiatives.

During the conversation, inter-parliamentary dialogue was identified as one of the priority areas of bilateral relations. At the same time, trade and economic interaction is consistently developing.

Noting transport, logistics, communications, and port infrastructure among the key vectors of cooperation, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized that our countries support the initiative to create the "Caspian Sea–Black Sea" transport corridor along the Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan–Georgia–Romania route. Connecting the Caspian and Black Sea regions opens up huge opportunities for the development of trade, economic, and investment partnership.

Special importance is also attached to bilateral cultural and humanitarian ties. In this context, the head of state confirmed the readiness of Turkmenistan to continue expanding cultural, scientific, educational, and sports cooperation with Georgia.

Expressing confidence that the current visit will become an important stage on the path to strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two states, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked President Mikheil Kavelashvili for the attention paid to the development of relations with Turkmenistan and invited him to visit our country at any time convenient for him.

Accepting the invitation with gratitude, the President of Georgia expressed confidence that the fruitful interstate dialogue will continue to develop across a wide range of areas for the benefit of the friendly peoples of both countries.

Upon completion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov left a commemorative entry in the Book of Honor for Guests.

As part of the visit, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived at the Expo Georgia Exhibition Centre, the venue of the Turkmen-Georgian Business Forum.

At the venue, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, warmly welcomed the President of Turkmenistan.

The Forum commenced with remarks by the Head of the Georgian Government.

Welcoming President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the participants of the Forum, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that it was a great honor to host the President of Turkmenistan in Georgia.

The Prime Minister also noted that numerous joint enterprises and companies with Turkmen capital are currently operating successfully in Georgia in the fields of transport, logistics, construction, agriculture, and other sectors of the economy.

Expressing confidence that the high-level meeting would provide a strong impetus for establishing new partnerships, putting forward concrete initiatives, and fostering closer and more productive cooperation between the business communities of the two countries, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze wished the participants every success.

The floor was then given to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Addressing the participants, the Head of State noted that the Forum was intended to promote the further development of bilateral trade, economic, and investment cooperation.

Referring to priority areas of cooperation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted the continued development of the fuel and energy sector as one of the key directions.

In this context, the President noted that Turkmenistan had launched the fourth phase of the industrial development of the Galkynysh gas field, one of the largest natural gas fields in the world.

The President also emphasized that another important area remains the development of the hydrocarbon resources of the Caspian Sea.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov further stressed that the private sector continues to develop dynamically within the structure of the national economy.

Noting the significant potential for expanding cooperation in transport, logistics, communications, infrastructure, and the utilization of maritime terminals, the President underlined the importance of engaging the private sector in the development of related infrastructure and specialized services, while making full use of the favorable opportunities for the transit of goods and services.

"We are currently holding negotiations on the establishment of a Turkmen cargo terminal on Georgia's Black Sea coast. I believe that the business communities of our two countries should actively participate in the implementation of this project, thereby putting the principles of public-private partnership into practice", the Head of State said.

Turkmenistan is also interested in Georgia's experience in the development of tourism and the service sector.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the Forum should serve as the beginning of a consistent, practical and results-oriented dialogue between the business communities of the two countries. Expressing support for holding such events on a regular basis in both Turkmenistan and Georgia, the Head of State wished the participants productive discussions, as well as a fruitful exchange of ideas and experience.

Following the Forum, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze jointly visited an exhibition showcasing products manufactured in Turkmenistan.

The ministries and sectoral agencies of Turkmenistan presented their expositions at the Expo Georgia exhibition grounds.

Upon completion of the exhibition tour, the Prime Minister of Georgia hosted an official reception in honor of the President of Turkmenistan.

The State Visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Georgia continues.
