Chairman of Armenia`s Supreme Judicial Council discusses new  cooperation avenues with ADB

ArmInfo. Artur Atabekyan, Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) of Armenia, held a meeting with representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB)—Senior Counsel Christina Pak and Senior Investment Officer of  the ADB Armenian office Narine Avetisyan—to discuss sectoral reforms  and potential new areas of cooperation.

According to the SJC press office, Chairman Atabekyan expressed his  gratitude to the ADB for its long- standing and consistent support in  the development of Armenia's judicial system. He emphasized the  importance of the Bank's contributions to institutional and legal  reforms and improvements in public administration, highlighting the  ADB as a vital and reliable partner in the sphere of justice.

The parties discussed the experience gained during their working  visit to Singapore in 2025, noting that it provides the foundation  for further improvement of the reforms being implemented in Armenia  in the areas of mediation and arbitration. The Chairman of the  Supreme Judicial Council expressed confidence that continued  cooperation with the ADB in this area will significantly contribute  to reducing the workload on the courts, ensuring faster and more  effective dispute resolution, and strengthening public trust in the  justice system.

Furthermore, during the meeting, the parties discussed the  possibility of holding a joint event at the 17th Conference of the  Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), which will  be held in Armenia. In this context, they touched on environmental  justice development trends in Armenia with the aim of strengthening  the judicial system's capacity in  environmental protection,  biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development, as well as  identifying new prospects for cooperation.
