ArmInfo. In Armenia’s Kotayk Province, in the community of Garni, plans are underway to create the Museum of Carpet Art of Armenia. In connection with this, Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan, visited the site of the future museum, where construction work is in its final stages.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia and philanthropist Levon Vartan Der Bedrosian to establish the Museum of Carpet Art. According to the document, the philanthropist intends to donate to the Republic of Armenia property located in the Garni community of Kotayk Province, as well as his personal collection for the creation of the carpet museum in Armenia.
According to Zhanna Andreasyan, the museum complex’s location on one of the popular tourist routes is particularly important, as it will create new opportunities for cooperation and increase the visibility of cultural heritage and contemporary art.
The minister emphasized that every effort will be made to complete the work as quickly as possible and open the museum to the general public at the earliest opportunity. “The creation of the new museum will contribute to the preservation, study and popularization of the rich heritage of Armenian carpet art, ensuring its transmission to future generations,” the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports said.
