The Permanent Mission of Armenia to the UN, together with the Permanent Mission of Djibouti and the UN Office for the Prevention of Genocide and the Responsibility to Protect (OSAPG), organized an event entitled "Partnerships for Integrating Preventive Mechanisms into Peacebuilding: From Policy to Practice." The event was held as part of UN Peacebuilding Week.
Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Permanent Representative of Armenia to the UN, reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to promoting a conflict prevention approach as a key element of sustaining peace, including as a member of the UN Peacebuilding Commission. He emphasized the importance of resilient national institutions, inclusive cooperation, and the timely translation of early warning mechanisms into practical action.
He presented Armenia's initiatives to advance the prevention agenda within the UN, including the country's contribution to genocide prevention, as well as the recently adopted UN General Assembly resolution "Education for Peace."
Speaking about Armenia's experience in responding to refugee flows, he noted the importance of cooperation between the government, UN agencies, and development partners to strengthen resilience.
