ArmInfo. On June 22, the conference hall of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (NAS RA) will host the opening of the 10th International Conference on Radiation Physics, themed "Beams and Radiation: Interaction and Applications". Bringing together over 150 scientists from Armenia, Italy, Greece, the UK, Russia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, China, and Iran, the conference will also feature the 5th International Scientific School "Radiation Physics and Related Applications". This school is dedicated to the memory of Academician Alpik Mkrtchyan, a prominent Soviet and Armenian physicist.
According to the NAS RA press service, the events are organized by the Institute of Applied Problems of Physics with the support of the Higher Education and Science Committee.
The conference aims to discuss scientific achievements and their practical applications in the field of radiation and particle interaction. It will provide a platform for young specialists to plan joint research with renowned scientists, covering both fundamental scientific problems and applied issues. The events are designed to develop cutting-edge scientific fields in Armenia and create new opportunities for international cooperation.
The priority of this scientific direction stems from the fact that it forms the foundation for high technologies and addresses critical tasks across diverse sectors: medicine (developing new radiotherapy methods, creating new radiopharmaceuticals and medical tomographs); material science (creating new crystals and functional materials with specified properties used in microelectronics, the space industry for satellite radiation protection, and quantum computers); energy (research aimed at the safe operation of nuclear power plants and the design of future thermonuclear reactors); and ecology (developing radiation monitoring systems, waste treatment methods, and other related areas).
