ArmInfo. The presence of Azerbaijani armed forces on Armenia's sovereign territory remains a serious cause for concern, as stated by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Edward Asryan, to reporters on June 9.
According to him, there is hope that the ongoing border delimitation and demarcation process will ultimately resolve the issue. Asryan also noted the significant work being done to strengthen forward defense positions.
The Chief of the General Staff clarified, however, that neither forward-deployed units nor the General Staff itself maintain any form of contact with the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
Addressing the procurement of new military hardware, Asryan emphasized that the acquisition process extends far beyond simple purchasing. He explained that the military conducts rigorous research to evaluate the parameters of specific weapons systems, assessing how effectively they can be integrated into the country's existing defense network and how quickly personnel can master them. In this context, the head of the General Staff pointed to the hardware displayed at the May 28 military parade, confirming that all showcased equipment is in full combat readiness.
