ArmInfo. The issue of PoWs and detainees in Baku remains a permanent fixture of the Armenian authorities' discussions, as stated by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at a press conference in Yerevan on May 26.
The Foreign Minister recalled that he has addressed this matter countless times. "If there is a need to hear this reassurance every single time, I am ready to repeat it another thousand times. Whether you ask about it or not—and sometimes the relatives of the detainees raise it with understandable anxiety and distress—this topic is constantly present in our dialogue. Frankly, while I am not authorized to speak on behalf of the American side, I believe I can confidently state that our US counterparts also consistently demonstrate a sincere interest in this matter, making continuous efforts, and we remember past instances where these efforts yielded success. I sincerely hope that in the future, we will indeed manage to achieve a certain degree of success on this issue once again," he said.
At the same time, Mirzoyan stated that he believes the only success on this issue is the release of new prisoners, and until such success is achieved, the value of the discussions is questionable. "Once again, this is a constant component of our conversations, and our American colleagues have never shown a decline in interest. They are always open to this topic, always trying, interested, and willing to be helpful," Mirzoyan said.
