ArmInfo.Mesrop Arakelyan, co-founder of the "Country to Live" party, has responded to a recent statement by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, regarding Armenian prisoners of war.
As Arakelyan recalled on his Facebook page, the journalist asked Mirzoyan whether he intended to raise the issue of Armenian Pows held in Baku during a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, to which the minister replied, "You're already annoying."
In this regard, Arakelyan recounted an incident involving Mirzoyan. "After the 2021 snap parliamentary elections, Ararat Mirzoyan, the 'annoyed National Security Service agent,' was upset and took a leave because he hadn't received a post. Armen Grigoryan (the current Secretary of the National Security Service of Armenia – ed.) was supposed to become Foreign Minister, but the Russian side opposed his candidacy. Then, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was forced to nominate a new candidate, Mirzoyan, whom Russia also viewed with skepticism. Ultimately, a former official from Artsakh, who shared a very warm relationship with Mirzoyan, vouched for him to the Russian authorities, clearing the way for his appointment as Foreign Minister," the co-founder of the "Country to Live" party noted.
Nevertheless, the party co-founder expressed his confidence that the Armenian prisoners would eventually return home. "All of our captives will return, but Mirzoyan will go down in history as the Armenian Foreign Minister who surrendered Artsakh," Arakelyan concluded.
