ArmInfo. The election campaign in Armenia is turning into open political revenge on the part of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. This was written by Iveta Tonoyan, press secretary of the Prosperous Armenia Party, on her Facebook page.
"Since early this morning, masked men, officers of the National Security Service, have been breaking into the apartments and offices of the Prosperous Armenia Party's parliamentary candidates. Following Nikol Pashinyan's statement, Andranik Tevanyan was already charged yesterday, and today, masked men are already conducting searches in his office. They also broke into the home of Prosperous Armenia Party candidate Martun Grigoryan early this morning. It's clear that after the large and influential rallies held yesterday in Gyumri, the authorities have found themselves in political chaos. The best proof of this is Nikol Pashinyan's behavior: early this morning, still sleepy, he gave a press conference and made alarming statements. Pashinyan's erratic behavior, consisting exclusively of unfounded accusations and personal insults, speaks to one thing: the authorities are in a panic.
It's clear that the ruling Civil Contract Party, led by Nikol Pashinyan, is the only one that hasn't presented any support during the entire campaign. "[The Prosperous Armenia Party] is guided by a style of denigrating political opponents using street language," noted Iveta Tonoyan.
She recalled that the Prosperous Armenia Party has a long political history. Throughout this time, the activities of party chairman Gagik Tsarukyan have always been aimed at protecting the interests of the state, the homeland, and the people. The Prosperous Armenia Party has memoranda of cooperation with a number of political forces abroad, including the European Conservatives and Reformists, as well as the Russian party United Russia. Several years ago, Gagik Tsarukyan brought about three dozen European parliamentarians to Armenia and Artsakh to demonstrate to the international community that Artsakh exists, that people live there, and that it is not just a "war zone."
"Cooperation with various political forces has always served one goal: enhancing Armenia's prestige on international platforms and protecting Armenian interests. We unequivocally state that no repression, persecution, or political harassment can influence our political course. We have always defended and will continue to defend Armenian interests and the real state interests of the Republic of Armenia. We assess what is happening as a targeted and coordinated attack on opposition political forces and parliamentary candidates at the most heated stage of the electoral process. We also draw the attention of international organizations, officials carrying out their diplomatic missions in our country, and observers to these illegal processes. If you do not see, or do not allow yourself to see, these shameful realities, when Nikol Pashinyan even threatens opposition leaders with physical violence, then you are seeing nothing. I am attaching a video recording of the meetings that took place yesterday in the Shirak region, so that it is clear what led Nikol Pashinyan to his mental breakdown," the party's press secretary emphasized.
