On the eve of the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Russian Ambassador Sergei Kopyrkin took part in the ceremony to hand over the "Flame of Memory" to Yerevan Secondary School No. 21 of the Russian Ministry of Defense, organized by the All- Russian Popular Front movement and the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Armenia.
According to the press service of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, in his welcoming address, the head of the Russian diplomatic mission emphasized the importance of preserving the legacy of the great feat of the Soviet people and the inadmissibility of rewriting the history of the Great Patriotic War:
"In Armenia, the memory of our shared Victory is sacredly honored and we remember that 600,000 sons and daughters of the Armenian people went to the front. Armenian families sheltered children evacuated from besieged Leningrad. We worked together to rebuild our country after the war. These heroic deeds, selfless labor, and compassion are an important part of our shared heroic history, which cannot be allowed to be distorted or rewritten," the diplomat said.
It is noted that this year marks the tenth time that a particle of the Eternal Flame from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden is being transferred to Russian regions and foreign countries.
