


ArmInfo. A series of commemorative events were held in Armenia to mark the 120th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding scientist and founder of nuclear medicine, Avetik Ignatievich Burnazyan.
According to the press service of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, the central event was a scientific conference held on April 28 at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia in Yerevan with the participation of Russian representatives from the A.F. Tsyb Medical Radiological Research Center and the A.I. Burnazyan Federal Medical Biophysical Center. The event was complemented by a biographical exhibition of unique documentary footage. In his welcoming address, Russian Ambassador Sergey Kopyrkin emphasized Avetik Ignatyevich's invaluable contribution to the development of Russian and global radiation medicine and safety.
The previous day, the Russian delegation visited Burnazyan's hometown of Gavar in the Gegharkunik region, visiting memorial sites associated with his name, as well as the geological museum, where local schoolchildren prepared an open lesson for the guests on the life of the outstanding Soviet scientist. The events commemorating Burnazyan's 120th anniversary in Armenia were organized by the Armenian cultural and educational charitable foundation "Our Future."
