Meeting of  Armenian-Turkish working group on  rehabilitation and  operationalization of  Gyumri-Kars railway  held in Kars

ArmInfo.On April 28, the meeting of the Armenia-Turkiye Joint Working Group on rehabilitation and operationalization of the Gyumri-Kars railway was  held in Kars on 28 April 2026, according to the press service of the  Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It is noted that the meeting was held based the agreements reached  within the Armenia-Turkey normalization process. " The parties  emphasized the significance of the early operation of the Gyumri-Kars  railway in the context of enhancing regional transport  communications," the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

The launch of the normalization process between Armenia and Turkey  was announced on December 13, 2021, by then-Turkish Foreign Minister  Mevlut Cavusoglu. He also emphasized that Ankara would coordinate  with Azerbaijan regarding steps to normalize relations with Armenia.  The parties have appointed special representatives of Turkey and  Armenia for the normalization process, Serdar K?l?c and Ruben  Rubinyan, who have already held several rounds of negotiations.  However, they have not yet reached any breakthroughs, other than the  launch of air cargo and passenger services.
