ArmInfo. Human rights activist Siranush Sahakyan has reported that philanthropist and former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison by an Azerbaijani puppet court, has been transferred to the Umbak Prison Complex. The information about the transfer followed a telephone conversation between Vardanyan and his family, according to the Free Armenian Hostages initiative.
"Essentially, the sentence has become legally binding, and the Armenian hostages, are now considered convicted under Azerbaijani law, rather then being detained as part of preventive measures. This also entails changes in the correctional facility," she noted, adding that there is no information about the hostages' health status or access to medical care.
