ArmInfo. Yerevan Municipality plans to purchase 170 new buses. Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced this at a working meeting on April 13.
Given the potential for collecting funds for public transportation services, he instructed the head of the Municipality's transport department to prepare a new tender for the purchase of 170 buses.
These buses are intended to replace the existing Higer buses and Gazel minibuses.
Avinyan noted that, thanks to increased control over public transportation fares, funds equivalent to the cost of three new buses were raised in just one week. He also called on city residents to support the driver. "The driver is not your enemy; he is doing his job and doing everything he can to buy new buses," the mayor remarked.
